Greene's 1st brushes sustaining a show business come whilst he was an audio technician for rock group. He graduated from either A Centre for Indigenous Theatre's Native Theatre School program within 1974, and began appearing around theater within Toronto and England.

His screen debut was within 1983 in Running Brave, and appeared inside such films when Revolution and Powwow Highway, but it was his Academy Award nominated role as "Kicking Bird" in the 1990 film Dances With Wolves that brought him stardom.

He followed that higher by having such films when Thunderheart, Benefit of the Doubt, and Maverick, and on the television series Northern Exposure and The Red Green Show. He too hosted the true crime documentary show known as Exhibit The (known as Forensic Files around the United States) in 1997.

Around 1994 he began apearing when Mr. Crabby Tree in the youngsters's series The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon for which he received his first & lone Gemini Award.

Around 1997, Greene suffered the major depressing attack, & got to exist as hospitalized when a law encounter. He survived a ordeal, making such motion picture when The Green Mile. He starred in the short-short-term television series Wolf Lake in 2001.

Inside 2004 he accepted the Earle Grey Award for lifetime accomplishment at a Gemini Awards.
